Fact Check: Did BJP Launch a Nationwide Sindoor Distribution Campaign for Modi 3.0?

Claim

Multiple media reports and social media posts claim that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to distribute sindoor (vermilion) to women across India as part of a campaign marking the anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term in office.

Fact Check

False

The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Unit has officially debunked this claim. On May 30, 2025, PIB Fact Check posted on X (formerly Twitter) that reports about a sindoor distribution campaign by the BJP are fake and not based on any official announcement.

PIB Clarification:

“Some social media posts and media reports are claiming various decisions to mark the anniversary of Modi 3.0. The claim is fake. Rely only on official sources for accurate information.”

What Triggered the Claim?

The false reports surfaced shortly after the BJP announced a massive public outreach drive beginning on June 9, 2025, the day Prime Minister Modi takes the oath for his third consecutive term. The campaign aims to showcase the key achievements of the NDA government over the past 11 years — including Operation Sindoor and the government’s stance on caste census.

Conclusion

The claim that the BJP launched a nationwide sindoor distribution campaign is completely false.
PIB Fact Check has confirmed that no such initiative has been announced. Citizens are advised to verify such viral claims with official sources and avoid spreading unverified content on social media.
