Paris Olympic Games 2024, Day 4: Manu Bhaker-Sarabjot Singh Clinch Historic Bronze, India’s 2nd Medal
Paris Olympic Games 2024: Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched India’s second medal by defeating South Korea in the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze medal playoff.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won a historic bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team shooting event after defeating South Korea on Day 4 of the Paris Olympics 2024. Bhaker became the first athlete in the history of independent India to win two medals in a single Olympics edition. Indian shooters are in action in men’s trap and women’s trap qualification.
Before the bronze medals at the Paris Olympics 2024, Manu Bhaker had won gold medals in this event at the 2023 World Championships and the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. The prodigal talent’s long list of honours also includes nine World Cup gold medals across events. Sarabjot Singh is also a World Championship, World Cup and Asian Games gold-medallist.
The two bronze medals have put Manu Bhaker in a very special list but the talented Indian shooter is not done at the Paris Olympics 2024. She will take part in the 25m air pistol individual event qualifications on August 2 and she can become the first Indian athlete ever to win three Olympic medals.
After Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot won the historic bronze on Tuesday at the Paris Olympics, 2008 gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, PM Modi congratulated the young duo for winning India’s first shooting team event medal in Summer Games history posted on X.
