Several social media users have shared a video clip of Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, claiming that it shows him praising Uttar Pradesh govt for arrangements made for Maha Kumbh Mela. What is the claim?
A video clip featuring Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is circulating with the claim that it shows him praising Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), for the arrangements made during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela.

Several social media users, including MrSinha, an X user known for sharing misinformation, shared this video and wrote, “What happened to Diljit? Now he’s praising CM Yogi ji for Mahakumbh arrangements… ” At the time of writing this story, the post had amassed over 293,000 views and more than 18,000 likes. Archived versions of this and other similar posts are available here, here, here, and here. However, we found that the Indian singer was not praising the UP government for the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela arrangements but rather for managing his 2024 concert in UP’s Lucknow city.
What are the facts?
A keyword search on Google for Dosanjh’s purported comments on Maha Kumbh arrangements yielded no credible news report.

We then checked Dosanjh’s official Instagram account and found a live video posted on February 9, 2025, from which the viral clip was taken (archived here). At the 18:00 timestamp, Dosanjh can be heard expressing gratitude to everyone for supporting him during his India tour. Subsequently, at around 18:09, Dosanjh read a comment stating, “Lucknow is pending.” He then checked with someone offscreen to confirm whether he had already performed in Lucknow. Then he looks at the camera and responds to the comment, saying that he had done a show in Lucknow.
The segment in the viral clip appears after that, in which he thanks the UP government. From the 18:28 to 18:40 timestamp in his Instagram video, Dosanjh says, “I want to say a special thanks to the UP government for their special arrangements,” which is similar to the first 12 seconds of the viral video. Additionally, Dosanjh referenced Ludhiana right after mentioning UP and highlighting it in the context of good arrangements. However, this reference to Ludhiana was not included in the viral video to make it appear that he was only talking about UP.
The part seen in the viral video between 0:13 and 0:30 seconds can be seen from the 18:46 to 19:00 timestamp in the original video, where Dosanjh again referred to arrangements made in Lucknow and Ludhiana. However, his reference to Ludhiana was still not included in the viral video.
In his Instagram video, Dosanjh responded to questions about his tour experiences in various places but did not praise the UP government’s arrangements for Maha Kumbh in the live video.
Dosanjh performed in Lucknow on December 22, 2024, during his Dil-Luminati India Tour and expressed gratitude to the UP police, stating, “Thank you so much; Uttar Pradesh maintained the best arrangements. I am a fan now. Very Respectful Host (translated from Hindi) (archived here).”
The verdict
The viral video doesn’t show Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh praising the UP government or Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the arrangement made during the ongoing Maha Kumbh festival, as claimed. He was actually praising the UP government for its support during his Dil-Luminati Tour in Lucknow.
