FACT CHECK: Can You Travel from India to Vietnam for Just ₹11? The Claim is Misleading!

Claim:

A viral social media post claims that Vietnamese airline Vietjet Air is offering flight tickets from India to Vietnam for as low as ₹11 (excluding taxes) every Friday until 2025.

Fact Check:

The claim is misleading. While Vietjet Air does offer promotional fares starting from ₹11, the viral claim omits important details about the offer’s limitations.

Investigation:

To verify this claim, Factcheck India checked Vietjet Air’s official website and social media pages and found an official tweet from the airline’s India-based handle confirming a special promotional offer:

• Flights from Hyderabad or Bangalore to Ho Chi Minh City were indeed priced at ₹11 + taxes as part of a limited-time offer.
• The promotional fare was available only from February 21 to February 28, 2025.
• The travel period for this offer was from March 10 to September 30, 2025.
• The ₹11 base fare did not include additional taxes, fees, and surcharges, which significantly increased the final ticket price.
• The offer was not available every Friday until 2025, as the viral claim suggests.

Verdict:

🚨 MISLEADING 🚨
The claim that one can fly from India to Vietnam for just ₹11 is not entirely false but is misleading because:
✔️ The ₹11 fare is part of a promotional campaign for a limited time.
✔️ The final ticket price includes taxes and surcharges, making it much higher than ₹11.
✔️ The claim that this offer is available every Friday until 2025 is incorrect.
