FACT CHECK: Fake Cardiologist Poses as UK Doctor in Madhya Pradesh

Claim:

A man named Narendra Yadav impersonated a UK cardiologist and performed unauthorized surgeries in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, leading to multiple patient deaths.

Fact:

True. Narendra Yadav, alias Dr. Narendra John Camm, impersonated a renowned UK cardiologist and conducted angiography and angioplasty procedures without being registered with the Madhya Pradesh Medical Council. Following the death of seven patients under his care, the Madhya Pradesh Health Department suspended the hospital’s license, and a case has been registered against Yadav under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Verification & Evidence:

1. Identity Fraud

Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav operated under the false identity of “Dr. Narendra John Camm,” impersonating renowned UK cardiologist Professor John Camm. This was done to gain credibility and mislead both patients and the hospital administration.

2. Hospital Involvement & License Status

Yadav conducted surgeries — including angiography and angioplasty — at Mission Hospital in Damoh.
According to Damoh CMHO Mukesh Jain, the hospital’s license expired on March 31, 2025, and a renewal application submitted earlier was rejected due to various shortcomings. The hospital failed to reapply within the deadline, resulting in its license being suspended.

3. Death of Seven Patients

Seven deaths occurred during the period Yadav was active at the hospital. These deaths triggered scrutiny and public outrage. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took note of the case after a local resident filed a complaint. A fact-finding team was sent to Damoh to investigate the allegations.

4. Police Action & Arrest

Based on a complaint filed by CMHO Mukesh Jain, an FIR was registered on April 6.
Yadav was arrested on April 8 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
He faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for:

• Dishonest misappropriation (Sec 315(4))
• Forgery (Sec 338)
• Fraudulent creation of documents (Sec 336(3))
• Use of forged electronic records (Sec 340(2))
• Joint criminal liability (Sec 3(5))

5. Madhya Pradesh Health Department Confirmation

The Health Department confirmed that the hospital’s license is suspended till further notice. It acknowledged that unqualified and unregistered individuals performed medical procedures, violating state and national medical regulations.

Conclusion:

The claim is true. Narendra Yadav impersonated a UK-based doctor, carried out unauthorized medical procedures in an unlicensed hospital, and was arrested following the deaths of seven patients. Official investigations by the NHRC and Madhya Pradesh police have confirmed the incident.
