Fact Check: Did the AI-Generated Video of NTR at TDP’s Mahanadu Flop?

On the occasion of TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s birth anniversary, the party showcased a deepfake-style AI-generated video

A social media post claims that the AI-generated video of N.T. Rama Rao (NTR), shown at the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) Mahanadu event in Kadapa, was an “utter flop” and failed to impress party workers.

The claim is false and misleading.

What Actually Happened:

On the occasion of TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s birth anniversary, the party showcased a deepfake-style AI-generated video of the late actor and political leader NTR addressing party workers at the 2025 Mahanadu held in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.

The video was designed using Artificial Intelligence technology to recreate NTR’s voice, facial expressions, and tone.
It was part of a planned tribute to honor NTR’s legacy and the 43-year journey of the TDP.
In the video, the AI-generated NTR praised Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership and expressed confidence in his grandson Nara Lokesh’s future in politics.

Visual Evidence: Footage from the event clearly shows thousands of TDP supporters giving the video a standing ovation. Multiple TV channels and party-affiliated handles covered the video positively, calling it “emotional,” “innovative,” and “inspiring.”

Where the Claim Originated:

The term “utter flop” appeared in a few politically motivated posts on X (formerly Twitter) and some fringe YouTube channels aligned with rival parties. These posts carried no evidence of negative response from the crowd and appear to be part of a disinformation campaign ahead of the Andhra Pradesh elections.

Verdict: False

The claim that the AI-generated video of NTR flopped at the Mahanadu is false. In reality, it received a warm and emotional reception from party members and supporters.
