Fact:

What Factcheck India Found?
The rumour gained traction through viral messages and posts that exaggerated missing children cases, triggering panic among citizens. However, Mumbai Police have categorically stated that no such mass disappearance occurred within the stated timeframe.

In a clarification issued on social media, the police explained that while missing child cases are registered whenever reported, the figures being circulated online are misleading and inaccurate. Authorities stressed that every missing minor case is treated with urgency, registered under appropriate legal provisions, and investigated with sensitivity.

Why This Matters:
False claims about missing children exploit public fear and divert attention from genuine cases that need urgent help. Such rumours can harm investigations and erode trust in law enforcement.
