Claim: Saudi authorities arrested two Mossad-linked operatives including an Indian national — who were allegedly trying to plant bombs and frame Iran.

Verdict: False. Factcheck India says the viral claim is baseless and not supported by any credible evidence.

What’s the story?
A post circulating widely on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) claimed that Saudi Arabia had arrested two individuals linked to Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad, including an Indian citizen.

The viral message alleged that the suspects were attempting to plant bombs and later blame Iran, suggesting a supposed “false-flag” operation. India’s Ministry of External Affairs later issued a clarification through its MEA FactCheck handle, calling the claim “preposterous and unsubstantiated” and urging users not to believe the misinformation.

Our analysis:

1. No official confirmation from Saudi Arabia or India
There has been no announcement from Saudi authorities confirming the arrest of any Indian national linked to a Mossad plot. Indian officials also said no such information had been communicated through diplomatic channels.

2. Origin traced to an anonymous social media account
Officials said the claim appears to have originated from an anonymous X account named “Amoxicillin.” The post provided no verifiable evidence, official documents, or credible sources to support the allegation.

3. Government fact-check labels claim fake
The MEA’s official fact-check unit publicly rejected the claim, warning users against sharing unverified posts — particularly during periods of geopolitical tension in West Asia when misinformation can spread quickly online.

Conclusion:
The claim that an Indian was arrested in Saudi Arabia as part of a Mossad plot is fake. Factcheck India confirms that the viral allegation as baseless, and there is no credible confirmation from Saudi authorities or other verified sources supporting the story.
