Video Showing Major General CS Mann Saying 'India Is Helping Israel

Claim: A viral video on social media shows Major General CS Mann allegedly saying that India is helping Israel and the United States against Iran and linking the conflict to ideas such as “Akhand Bharat.”

Verdict: False. The video is an AI-generated deepfake. The original clip shows the officer speaking about drone security testing, not geopolitics.

What’s the story?

A video circulating widely on social media appears to show Major General CS Mann, Additional Director General of the Army Design Bureau, making controversial remarks about India supporting Israel and the United States against Iran. In the manipulated clip, the officer is heard saying that India is helping Israel and the US “put an end to the terrorist Iranian regime” and linking the outcome of the conflict to regional geopolitical goals such as “Akhand Bharat.” The video spread rapidly online amid rising tensions in the West Asia conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, triggering debate and confusion.

However, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) quickly intervened and issued a “Deepfake Video Alert.” The MEA clarified on its official fact-check handle that the viral clip is AI-generated and digitally altered. Authorities also shared the original video, which shows Major General Mann speaking about drone testing frameworks and security protocols, not international politics. In the authentic clip, the officer explains that a framework for drone testing and security vulnerability checks is being developed and approved to ensure that India’s drones do not have any security flaws.

What Factcheck India Found?

This is a clear example of a deepfake video created using AI tools to manipulate real footage. The original video was edited to insert fabricated statements, creating the false impression that a senior Indian Army officer made politically sensitive remarks about an ongoing international conflict.

Such misinformation often spreads during geopolitical crises, when audiences are more likely to react strongly to dramatic or controversial claims. By comparing the viral clip with the original footage, authorities confirmed that the audio and statements were digitally altered and do not reflect what was actually said.

Conclusion

The viral video claiming that Major General CS Mann said India is helping Israel and the US against Iran is fake. The clip is an AI-generated deepfake, and the original video only shows the officer discussing drone testing and security frameworks.
