Patna Court Grants Interim Protection to Khan Sir in Coaching Centre Firing Case: What We Know So Far

Introduction

Popular educator and YouTuber Khan Sir has received interim protection from arrest from a court in Patna in connection with a case related to an alleged firing incident at his coaching institute earlier this month. The development comes as police continue investigating an incident involving vandalism and alleged gunfire at Khan Global Studies (KGS), a coaching center run by Khan Sir.

Why Is Khan Sir in the News?

Khan Sir has come under legal scrutiny following an incident that took place on the night of June 2, 2026, at his coaching institute in Patna. According to reports, a group of around 15 to 20 individuals allegedly entered the premises of Khan Global Studies, vandalized property, and pelted stones at the institute. The incident triggered a police investigation and subsequently led to legal proceedings involving individuals associated with the coaching center. A day after the incident, authorities detained two security guards employed at the institute after a video allegedly surfaced on social media showing gunfire during the disturbance.

What Did the Court Decide?

On June 9, a Patna court granted interim protection from arrest to Khan Sir while hearing his anticipatory bail application. According to his counsel, advocate Arvind Kumar Mavvar, the court directed that no coercive action, including arrest, be taken against Khan Sir until the next hearing and pending a decision on his anticipatory bail plea. The court has also sought the case diary and antecedent records before proceeding further with the matter. The next hearing has been scheduled for June 20, 2026.

What Is Anticipatory Bail?

Anticipatory bail is a legal provision under Indian law that allows a person to seek protection from arrest if they believe they may be taken into custody in connection with a criminal case. If granted, anticipatory bail enables the individual to remain free while cooperating with investigators, subject to conditions imposed by the court. In this case, Khan Sir’s legal team approached the court seeking protection from arrest while the investigation remains ongoing.

What Is the Alleged Firing Incident?

The controversy centers around claims that shots were fired during the June 2 disturbance at Khan Global Studies. Police reportedly seized the weapons allegedly used in the firing and sent them for forensic examination. An FIR was registered at Kadamkuan Police Station in Patna. The two security guards detained in connection with the case are currently in judicial custody as investigations continue. Authorities are examining evidence, including video footage and forensic reports, to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged firing.

Has Khan Sir Been Arrested?

No. As of June 9, 2026, Khan Sir has not been arrested. The Patna court’s interim order protects him from arrest until the next hearing while his anticipatory bail application is under consideration. His lawyer has stated that Khan Sir will cooperate with investigators and is free to travel during this period.

What Happens Next?

The case is expected to return to court on June 20, when the judge will review the case diary, police records, and arguments from both sides before deciding on the anticipatory bail application. The outcome of that hearing could determine whether Khan Sir receives continued legal protection or faces further proceedings in the case.

Conclusion

The Patna court’s interim protection order provides temporary relief to Khan Sir as investigations continue into the alleged firing incident at his coaching institute. While two security guards remain in judicial custody and forensic examinations are underway, the court will take up the anticipatory bail plea again later this month. Until then, Khan Sir remains protected from arrest and is expected to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
