Fact Check: President Droupadi Murmu Guaranteed ₹21 Lakh Monthly

ByFactcheck India

January 28, 2026 #disinformation, #Droupadi Murmu, #FactCheckIndia, #Fake news, #India, #misinformation, #social media,#TruthXIndia

Claim:
A viral video circulating on social media shows President Droupadi Murmu allegedly endorsing an investment scheme that promises profits of up to ₹70,000 per day or ₹21 lakh per month on an investment of just ₹23,000.

Verdict: False

What Factcheck India Found:
The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check Unit has debunked the viral video, confirming that it is AI-generated and misleading. PIB clarified that President Droupadi Murmu has never promoted or endorsed any investment scheme promising guaranteed returns.

According to PIB, the viral clip misuses footage from an old speech delivered by the President on National Human Rights Day. The speech has been digitally altered using artificial intelligence to create a false narrative around guaranteed profits.

What Is Official Clarification:
PIB also shared the original video of the President’s speech, stating that it is over a month old and has no connection to any financial or investment platform.

Further, PIB warned users not to click on links shared alongside the video, as they could be phishing scams aimed at financial fraud.

Why This Matters:
Such AI-manipulated videos are increasingly being used to exploit public trust in constitutional authorities. Guaranteed profit schemes are a common red flag for financial scams.

Conclusion:
The viral video claiming President Droupadi Murmu guaranteed ₹21 lakh per month in profits is fake. The claim has been officially debunked by PIB, and citizens are advised to rely only on verified government sources.
