Fact Check: Has Chandrababu Naidu Decided to Break Ties with NDA Again?

A recent claim has been making rounds on social media, suggesting that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Chandrababu Naidu has once again severed ties with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). This post, shared on the platform X, is causing a buzz, with many users questioning its authenticity. Let’s explore the truth behind this claim.

Viral Claim: Naidu Has Split from NDA

A social media user by the name of Ranvijay Singh posted a video clip, along with a message hinting that Andhra Pradesh’s former Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, had ended his party’s alliance with the NDA over the issue of special status for the state. The post also mentioned that this could lead to a shift in political dynamics, similar to recent moves by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The video was shared on September 7, 2024.

Fact Check India’s Investigation

Upon investigating the matter, it was found that the claim is misleading. Using relevant search terms, we discovered that no credible news source had reported any recent fallout between Chandrababu Naidu and the NDA.

Further analysis revealed that the video being shared is not recent but dates back to March 2018, when Chandrababu Naidu had indeed broken away from the NDA. The clip in question was originally aired on a news channel’s YouTube account at that time. However, it is being circulated again, falsely suggesting that the event just occurred.

Image Verification

In addition, a reverse image search showed a recent photograph of Naidu with Prime Minister Modi. This supports the fact that Naidu’s relationship with the central government remains intact. Reports suggest that Naidu recently met with the Prime Minister to discuss additional support for Andhra Pradesh, confirming that no political fallout has occurred.

Conclusion

The viral post claiming that Chandrababu Naidu has split from the NDA is false. The video is from 2018 and is being misused to create a misleading narrative. As of now, there is no evidence to suggest that Naidu has ended his alliance with the NDA.
